Living Room Reveal: How We Added So Much Color, Charm, and Coziness.
You know that feeling when you walk into a room and it just doesn't feel like "you"? For the longest time, our living room was just... a space. It was functional, but it lacked personality, warmth, and a story. We wanted it to feel collected, not decorated—a place where we could truly unwind.
After months of planning and collecting, I'm so excited to finally share our living room reveal. It's everything we hoped for: full of color, cozy charm, and pieces with a history.
The Journey into Color
We chose a deep, moody blue for the accent wall. It became the perfect backdrop, making the room feel intimate and intentional. We then brought in pops of contrasting color through our pillows and throws—terracotta, mustard yellow, and forest green—creating a rich, layered look.
The Secret to Coziness? Layers and Texture
A truly cozy room is all about touch. We mixed a vintage velvet sofa with a soft, bouclé armchair and anchored the space with a plush wool rug. Every piece was chosen for the way it feels, not just for the way it looks.
The Soul of the Room: Heirloom Quality Pieces
To avoid a "brand new" look, we made a point to source heirloom quality pieces that had character and charm. The beautiful wood console table was a vintage find we refinished, and our large gallery wall features framed art from our travels.
These pieces don't just fill a space; they tell a story. They’re what make our living room feel unique to us, not like it was pulled from a catalog.
The Final Touch: Our Curtains and Drapes
The curtains were the final, crucial element. We opted for beautiful, heavyweight linen drapes in a warm off-white. They added softness without competing with the bold wall. We hung the rod as high and wide as possible to create the illusion of larger windows and taller ceilings. The way they hang and pool slightly on the floor adds a final touch of luxury and pulls the entire room together.
The Big Reveal
It’s amazing what a little bit of planning and a lot of heart can do. Our living room is no longer just a space—it’s a place that feels like home.
