Blinds & Shades Installation Guide:

Step-by-Step Instructions for Inside and Outside Mounts.

Installing blinds and shades can enhance privacy, light control, and style in your home. Here’s a quick guide on installing them inside or outside the window frame.

A. Inside Mount Installation

An inside mount provides a clean, tailored look by fitting the blinds or shades within the window frame. Follow these steps for precise installation.

Tool Needed:

Measuring tape, drill, pencil, screws, level, screwdriver.

Steps:

Measure the Inside Width: Measure the width of the window at the top, middle, and bottom inside the frame. Use the narrowest measurement to ensure the blinds or shades fit perfectly within the frame without sticking.

Measure the Inside Height: Measure the height of the window at the left, center, and right sides inside the frame. Use the longest measurement for ordering your blinds or shades to avoid gaps at the bottom.

Mark Bracket Placement: Hold the brackets at the top inside corners of the window frame and mark where the screws will go. Ensure they are equidistant from the window's edges and level.

Drill Pilot Holes: Drill small pilot holes at the marked spots to prevent the wood from splitting.

Install Brackets: Secure the brackets with screws, ensuring they are level and aligned.

Attach Blinds/Shades: Clip or snap the headrail of the blinds or shades into the brackets.

Test Operation: Pull the blinds or shades up and down to ensure smooth operation. Adjust if needed.

Install Valance (Optional): Attach the valance or decorative cover provided to the headrail for a finished look.

B. Inside Mount Installation

An outside mount is great for making windows appear larger or covering an unattractive frame. The blinds or shades are installed on the wall above the window or directly on the window trim.

Tool Needed:

Measuring tape, drill, pencil, screws, level, screwdriver.

Steps:

Measure the Width for Coverage: Measure the width you want the blinds or shades to cover. Start from 2-3 inches beyond the window frame on both sides for optimal light control and privacy.

Measure the Height for Coverage: Measure the height from the desired top of the blinds or shades (typically 2-3 inches above the window frame) down to where you want them to end (usually the window sill or lower).

Mark Bracket Placement: Position the brackets above the window frame at the desired height and mark where the screws will go. Ensure the marks are level and at an equal height.

Drill Pilot Holes: Drill small holes at the marked spots to guide the screws.

Install Brackets: Secure the brackets to the wall or window trim with screws, checking they are level.

Attach Blinds/Shades: Snap or click the headrail into the brackets securely.

Test Operation: Test the blinds or shades by moving them up and down to ensure they operate smoothly.

Install Valance (Optional): If provided, attach the valance to cover the headrail for a polished appearance.

Other Tips for Accurate Installation:

— Use a Level: A level is crucial for ensuring the brackets are perfectly aligned.

— Double-Check Measurements:

Always measure twice to avoid mistakes.

Proper measurements are key to a successful blinds or shades installation. Follow these precise steps for either an inside or outside mount to achieve a professional look and optimal functionality.
